VisualRadio - Israeli radio for the iPhone
While driving with the windows down on this gorgeous day, I had a craving for Israeli radio. Specifically Galei Tzahal and/or cheezy folk songs (i.e. Yaffa Yarkoni and Ofra Haza) to celebrate the national holiday. Within 5 red lights, I had searched, found a helpful review of, and downloaded an iPhone app to stream a bunch of popular Israeli radio stations live. By the BQE, I was ‘jamming’ to Galgalatz.
It was one of those experiences where I imagined explaining to my almost-grandmother how it worked: radio 7,000 mi away → internet → wireless data signal → iphone to car’s AUX input… and blew my own mind just a bit. If I were with her, I’d probably have to use the term “short-wave radio” as part of an extended metaphor.
